From Image Character Upload Guide

CineV2026-02-06

CineV allows you to create Character Swap–only characters using one front-facing full-body character image and a detailed appearance description.

The image is used as a visual reference, and the Description is a required input used to define the character’s appearance in detail. Image to Character is not intended for creating 3D characters or editing them in Studio.

It is a Character Swap–only tool that applies an image-based appearance to a scene. For best results, we recommend completing your 3D staging, actions, and camera work first, then applying Image to Character at the final stage.

To use Image to Character, you must upload one front-facing, full-body character image.

  • Only one character in the image

  • Front-facing, full-body pose

  • Clear and recognizable facial features

  • High-resolution image (not blurry)

Recommended

  • A neutral, front-facing pose produces the most stable results

  • Simple backgrounds help the character silhouette stand out

The following images are not supported:

  • Side-facing or back-facing characters

  • Characters with heavily distorted or unrealistic proportions

  • Low-resolution or blurry images

  • Images containing multiple characters

  • Open the My Characters menu

  • Select Generate from Image

You can also create characters directly from the Character Swap page with in a project.

In this step, you define the character’s appearance. All fields are required.

  • Upload one front-facing, full-body character image

  • File Format : JPG, PNG

  • Max File Size : 10 MB

Image tips

  • The character’s face should not be covered

  • Extremely simplified styles (e.g., chibi proportions) may lead to unstable results

1) Character Name

  • Must be English only

  • Maximum length: 20 characters

  • Duplicate names are allowed

2) Gender

  • Select the character’s body type

  • This affects body proportions

  • Cannot be changed after creation

3) Appearance Prompt

The Prompt is a required field used to define your character’s appearance. The details you enter here will be applied when generating the character.

Please include all of the following information:Hair color

  • Hair style

  • Top type and color

  • Bottom type and color

Writing guidelines

  • Use specific color names (e.g., navy blue, ivory, charcoal) instead of vague terms like light or dark.

  • Clearly separate type and color for both top and bottom.

  • CineV uses this description to generate your character’s appearance.

Examples

  • “Long reddish-brown hair styled in twin braids. White shirt with a black tie, black slacks.”

  • “Bright blonde bob haircut. Light beige knit top, dark navy pants.”

  • “Short black hair, naturally styled. Gray hoodie, dark-colored jogger pants.”

More detailed descriptions lead to more stable preview results.

Based on the uploaded image and Description, CineV generates a character appearance preview.

  • Processing time: approximately 10–20 seconds

  • Previews are shown in three views:

    • Name

    • Gender

    • Thumbnails

      • Face

      • Side Body

      • Full Body

    • Description

What to check

  • Whether facial features match the reference image naturally

  • Whether clothing types and colors match the Description

  • At this stage, the character is not finalized.

  • If the preview doesn’t look right, you can start over at any time.

    • Click Retry to go back and revise the image or Description.

    • Generate the preview again as many times as you need.

If the result looks unnatural:

  • Make the Description more specific.

  • Clearly separate clothing types and colors.

Characters are not saved or confirmed during this step.Your character will only be saved after you complete the process.

If you’re satisfied with the preview, click Confirm.

  • The character is registered immediately

  • There is no Processing state

  • Characters created via Image to Character can be used in Character Swap

    • You can replace existing scene characters with the image-based character

  • Image-based characters cannot be used directly in 3D Studio

If you enter 3D Studio after applying an image-based character:

  • Studio will display:

    • A dummy character, or The previously applied 3D character(VRM / ZEPETO / CineV default character)

    • Image-based characters are not passed into Studio

Additionally:

  • If you save changes in 3D Studio,

    • The Image to Character result is not preserved

    • The scene is saved using the previously applied 3D character

How to access 'Edit in 3D' or '3D Studio'?

Once your video is generated after entering the prompt, you can access the studio by clicking the [Edit in 3D] button located in the top right corner of the Storyboard screen.
