Editing a song in SOUNDRAW
Have you already generated a song list and want to edit it to further suit your needs? If you haven't yet, go here. However, if you have, then let's go!
1. On your song list, select the desired song to open up its soundwaves. It should look like this:
2. You can see that the songs are separated in "blocks". These are short sections of the song, which can be edited. In this view, you can quickly add and remove these "blocks" to shorten or increase the length of the song. Hover over any section, and click on the Garbage Can icon to remove the block, or the Plus icon to add a section after it.
3. Also, the Energy bar shown above allows you to individually change the "energy level" of each section. This is better heard than explained, so try it out!
4. Sometimes you need more settings to adjust the song to your liking. This is where Mixer Mode really comes in handy. Basic settings are turning on this feature, so if you don’t need to, you can just skip it or turn it off by clicking the button on this pink part.
5. In Mixer Mode, you'll have more controls, and the song will be divided into different instrument bundles. They will usually include Melody, Backing, Bass, Drum, and Fill, as shown below:
6. You can individually change the energy levels of each bundle in each section. The colors will indicate the levels, with Gray being muted, and a strong Blue color representing a higher energy level. As before, you can still add or remove blocks as you see fit to change the song length!
7. Sometimes, you'll find blocks with gradients. These represents fade-ins and fade-outs, which are a volume automation of that section, allowing for cool build-ups or overall better transition effects. You can apply this effect by right-clicking on one of the block's edges. Remember: left-clicks changes the Energy level, while right-clicks create this cool fade-in/fade-out effect.
8. You may be wondering what the Fill bundle means. This is the true transition feature! It helps with smoothening when a section overlaps to another. As with the other blocks, you can change its Energy level by clicking on it. Do note that you cannot apply fade-ins and fade-outs to the Fill bundle.
9. Finally, you have some additional settings on Pro Mode. These are the Mixer tools, which include some previously known options such as Length, BPM and Instruments, but also have Volume and Key (so you can select different pre-created keys for your song to be in)!
