Accurate Goods Description Required for Customs Clearance

2025.07.31

As customs regulations continue to tighten globally, there has been a noticeable increase in cases where shipments are delayed or returned due to inaccurate or vague item descriptions in shipping documents.

We would like to remind all customers of the importance of providing clear and accurate descriptions on invoices and all export/import-related documents.

Key Requirements

  • Goods Description:

Provide a clear and specific name of the item so that customs authorities can identify the contents without opening the package.

Example: If you ordered a BTS album:

  • "Accessory" - Not detailed enough

  • "BTS Layover Album, Beige cover, 2 Photocards, Brand New" - Detailed and clear!

  • Declared Value:

Accurately declare the actual transaction value. For gifts or samples, please state the typical retail price.

  • Prohibited Items – Intellectual Property (IPR) Infringement:

Counterfeit or trademark-infringing items are strictly prohibited and may result in seizure by customs.

Failure to comply with the above may lead to shipment delays, returns, or customs penalties. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Upon request, we can issue and share a Commercial Invoice for your shipment/tracking number after the order is placed and the shipment is being processed.

For customs purposes, the Commercial Invoice reflects only the declared package value (product value). Shipping fees, service fees, and Bubble Packing fees are not included in the declared value shown on the Commercial Invoice.

If destination customs or the carrier requests supporting documents (e.g., a purchase receipt or proof of payment), please prepare your relevant purchase/payment records so you can submit them when requested.

If the declared value shown on shipping documents differs from the receipts you provided, customs or the carrier may request clarification. Please contact support so we can check whether the discrepancy is an issue and whether a corrected declaration/Commercial Invoice needs to be submitted.

We do not issue a separate shipping invoice. If you need confirmation of shipping-fee payment, we can provide the shipping fee payment record as a screenshot, and the carrier can verify the amount if needed.

If you need documentation for a carrier claim (e.g., a FedEx reclamation), please request the Commercial Invoice first. If additional supporting documents are required, please let support know what the carrier is asking for.

  • Low-value items: You may proceed with the registered item value even if an item is valued at USD 4 or less. However, customs may still request supporting documents later.

  • Personal items: Even if the item was not purchased in Korea (e.g., a personal item you already owned), a declared value is still required for international shipping. Please check the current market value and enter that amount.

  • Extra items/gifts in the package: For customs clearance, it is generally advisable to declare all items that are actually included in the package without omitting any products. If categories differ, select the category that best represents the primary/main item in the package.

Applicable customs duties and taxes are determined by the destination country’s customs authority and generally must be paid, either in advance (if available) or upon delivery. If you have official documentation showing that duties/taxes should not apply to your shipment, please share it for review.

Prepaid duty options (when offered) are available only for shipments to the United States on the shipping payment page.

If customs or the carrier requests a more detailed description of goods or additional product measurements (such as length and/or width), please contact support. We can provide the available item details to the carrier, and the carrier will forward them to local customs.

When special customs documents are requested, you may submit them directly to your local carrier office (e.g., FedEx) or send them to support so we can forward them on your behalf. If a manufacturer information form is requested, the manufacturer details must also be completed.
