New Tariff Rules for Shipments to Mexico (Effective August 15, 2025)

Please be informed that effective August 15, 2025, new tariff provisions will apply to most international imports into Mexico, following the announcement published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on July 28, 2025.  

What This Means for Your Shipments to Mexico: 

  1. General Increase in Tariffs: A rate of 33.5% will apply to international shipments entering Mexico, excluding those from the United States and Canada.

  2. For imports to Mexico under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA): For shipments that comply with USMCA requirements, no changes apply. Existing tariff rates remain as follows:a. 0% for shipments valued under US$50 (De minimis threshold)b. 17% for shipments between US$50 and US$117c. 19% for shipments over US$117

  3. Shipments in Transit: Shipments processed or shipped before August 15, 2025, but arriving in Mexico on or after that date, may still be subject to the new tariff provisions.

We recommend reviewing your shipment details, including origin, declared value, and delivery timelines, to assess how these changes may impact your exports to Mexico.

Please also clearly communicate any responsibilities concerning duties and taxes to your recipients in Mexico to avoid delays or disputes. 

Shipments may be held at customs if payment of taxes, duties and applicable charges are not made promptly.
