Both steps must be allowed for notifications to work properly.

Access the ZEP site.
Click the icon (Lock or Settings) to the left of the address bar.
Select Site settings (Chrome).
Find Notifications → Select Allow.
Refresh the ZEP tab.
Changing via Chrome Settings Menu
Enter chrome://settings/content/notifications in the address bar → Click the Add button in the "Allowed to send notifications" section → Enter zep.us and click Add.
If you previously clicked 'Block'
Once blocked, the notification request popup will not appear again. Please change it manually using the method below.
For Chrome:
Enter
chrome://settings/content/notificationsin the address bar.Find the ZEP address in the "Not allowed to send notifications" list.
Click the three dots (⋮) on the right → Change to Allow.
Refresh the ZEP tab (F5 / Cmd + R).
Even if allowed in the browser, notifications will not appear if Mac system settings are turned off.

Open System Settings (Apple logo in the top left → System Settings).
Click Notifications.
Select the browser you are using (Chrome, Safari, Arc, etc.).
Switch the Allow Notifications toggle to ON.
Set Alert style to 'Alerts' (Notifications will not be visible if set to 'None' or 'Banners' depending on your OS version).
(Optional) Adjust details like 'Sound' or 'Show on lock screen' as needed.
Check Focus Mode (Do Not Disturb)
If macOS Focus Mode is on, all notifications will be suppressed. Disable Focus Mode in the Control Center (top right) or add your browser as an exception in System Settings → Focus.

Open Windows Settings (Win + I or Start → Settings ).
Go to System → Notifications.
Find your browser under "Notifications from apps and other senders."
Set the toggle to On (Blue).
(Optional) Click the browser item to adjust detailed settings—Banners, Sounds, Notification Center, etc.
Note
If the notification banner does not appear, please check the Notification Center. Sounds may overlap between Chrome's native notification and ZEP's DM notification.
Check Do Not Disturb
In Windows 11, if Do Not Disturb is on, all notifications will be suppressed. Please turn it off in Settings → System → Notifications → Do Not Disturb.
When you first access ZEP, a notification permission request will appear at the top of the browser.
Click the "Allow" button.
If you click "Block", the popup will not appear again, and you must manually change it in the browser settings.
Browser Notifications: Can be toggled on/off only when browser permissions are allowed.
Sound: Becomes active only when "Browser Notifications" is turned on.
If the toggle is disabled (grayed out), browser notifications are blocked. Please follow the guides above to allow them.
Q: I turned on notifications, but I’m still not receiving them.
A: Notifications must be enabled in both the browser and the OS system. It won't work if only one is on.
Mac: Check System Settings → Notifications → [Browser] → Allow Notifications.
Windows: Check Settings → System → Notifications → [Browser] toggle.
Q: The notification toggle is grayed out.
A: This means the ZEP site is blocked in your browser. Please allow ZEP via the address bar icon or chrome://settings/content/notifications, then refresh the tab.
Q: I can't click the Sound toggle.
A: You must turn on the "Browser Notification" toggle first for the Sound setting to activate. Please follow the order: Browser Notification ON → Sound ON.
Q: It worked at first, but suddenly stopped.
A: Please check if Focus Mode/Do Not Disturb is active.
Mac: Control Center (◎) in the top right menu bar → Disable Focus.
Windows: Notification Center → Turn off Do Not Disturb.
Q: Other sites work, but only ZEP doesn’t.
A: ZEP might be individually blocked. Click the address bar icon and check if Notifications are set to 'Allow'.
Q: The banner appears, but there is no sound.
A: Check two things: Ensure the Sound toggle in the ZEP app is ON, and check if your computer's master volume is muted.
Q: I changed the settings, but they haven't been applied.
A: You must refresh the ZEP tab after changing browser notification settings for them to take effect.
Q: I'm using a company computer and can't change notification settings.
A: This may be due to IT security or Group Policies. Please contact your IT administrator to request browser notification permissions.
