The more you chat, the more a thought creeps in: "What would this scene actually look like?" StoryChat has two features that answer exactly that. The first is Image Generation, where you write your own prompt and get a picture back. The second is Mood Snap, which automatically pops up a scene matched to your character's emotion right in the middle of a conversation.
It's not complicated. Both take just a couple of taps, and even on the Free plan you can try them within the free daily uses you get every day. In this guide we'll walk through what each one is, how to use it, and exactly what it costs — with real numbers.
Image Generation: Turns your written prompt into a picture. 300 SP per image. Gold gets 5 free per day, Platinum gets 15 free per day — after that, it's 300 SP each.
Mood Snap: Automatically shows a picture matched to your character's emotion during a chat. Turning one on (unlocking it) costs 50 SP. Silver gets 5 free/day, Gold 20 free/day, Platinum 80 free/day — after that, 50 SP each.
SP is permanent currency. Once you top up or earn SP, it never expires. Take your time spending it — it won't disappear.
Even if you run out of free uses and SP, your chats never stop. Default-model chat is unlimited for everyone.
[Related: Story Points & Plans (the cost hub)] — every exact SP cost is laid out in that document.
You describe the scene you want in words, and it turns that description into a picture. Think of it like writing out an order ticket at a restaurant and getting a plated dish back — the more specific your ticket (the prompt), the closer the result is to what you pictured.
Go to the Create page.
Tap Create Image.
Write the scene you want in the prompt field. (e.g., "a beach at sunset, a smiling person in a white shirt, warm light")
Hit the generate button and your image appears.
Tip: Splitting your prompt into "what / where / what mood" makes the results far better. Instead of cramming everything into one run-on line, separate the place, the person, and the mood with commas.
Item | Cost / Free allowance |
|---|---|
1 image | 300 SP |
Free plan allowance | None (300 SP each) |
Silver allowance | None (300 SP each) |
Gold allowance | 5 per day, then 300 SP each |
Platinum allowance | 15 per day, then 300 SP each |
HD (high-resolution) download | Gold & Platinum only |
Why this matters: The cost is 300 SP per image, and even Gold/Platinum get a set number of free images each day before they start spending SP. Just remember the table above exactly as written.
Mood Snap automatically displays a picture matched to your character's current emotion as you chat. Picture the panels in a comic book: when the character is happy, a beaming panel slots in; when they're sad, a downcast one drops in — each one timed perfectly to the moment.
For example, if a character has a "Happy" emotion set up, an image to match will appear automatically the instant that character feels joy in the conversation. The biggest difference from Image Generation is that you never have to write a prompt yourself.
Turning on a new emotion scene for the first time is what we call unlocking. Once you unlock a scene, you can use it, and each unlock costs 50 SP. The number of free unlocks you get per day varies by plan, and once you've used up those free unlocks, 50 SP is deducted per unlock.
Plan | Free unlocks per day | After free uses run out |
|---|---|---|
Free | None | 50 SP each |
Silver | 5 per day | 50 SP each |
Gold | 20 per day | 50 SP each |
Platinum | 80 per day | 50 SP each |
Why this matters: Gold gets free use up to 20 per day, and after that it's 50 SP each. The free uses reset every day, so there's no penalty for not using them all today.
It's a way to tweak an existing Mood Snap image with words. It's like dropping a photo into an editing app and saying "just make the shirt blue." Give it a text instruction like "change the shirt to red" or "make the background nighttime," and it changes only that part.
Note: Remix also creates a new image, so it uses SP or free uses. The app shows you the estimated cost before you send, so take a quick look before you tap.
Here it is in one line.
Image Generation | Mood Snap | |
|---|---|---|
Who decides the picture | You, via a prompt | Automatic, matched to the character's emotion in chat |
Where you use it | Create page | During a chat |
Cost | 300 SP per image | 50 SP per unlock |
Free allowance | Gold 5/day, Platinum 15/day | Silver 5/day, Gold 20/day, Platinum 80/day |
Put simply: if you're thinking "I want to see this specific scene," use Image Generation; if you'd rather have the right expression or scene just show up on its own as the conversation flows, use Mood Snap.
SP is StoryChat's prepaid, top-up points. Think of it like a rechargeable transit card. Once you load a balance, it never expires (it's permanent) and only ticks down as you actually spend it.
SP is used for extras like Image Generation (300 SP) and Mood Snap unlocks (50 SP), as well as for premium-model usage once you've gone past your weekly allowance.
Heavier settings burn through SP faster. Deeper memory, longer replies, and bigger characters all cost more. The good news: the app shows you the estimated cost before you send, so you can check before you tap.
You never get hard-locked. Even if your free uses and SP are both gone, default-model chat is unlimited for everyone. The conversation itself never stops.
