Storychat is an AI storytelling and character chat platform committed to creative expression, user safety, and compliance with applicable laws and platform policies. These guidelines define what content is allowed, how content is moderated, and how we protect our community.
These guidelines apply to all users, including creators and viewers.
Storychat provides a Content Sensitivity Filter to give users control over the types of creative content they see.
- The filter is enabled by default for all users.
- Users must be 18 or older and explicitly opt in to disable the filter.
- Disabling the filter requires two-step confirmation: toggling the setting and confirming age eligibility.
- Disabling the filter may reveal content with mature themes, such as dramatic tension, dark storytelling, or intense emotional scenarios.
- The filter does not unlock or provide access to pornographic or sexually explicit content. Such content is not permitted on the platform regardless of filter settings.
All content on Storychat is subject to the following standards:
- Creative storytelling across all genres (romance, action, drama, fantasy, horror, comedy, anime/webtoon, and more)
- Character interactions involving emotional depth, dramatic tension, and complex narratives
- Mature themes appropriate for adult audiences when the Content Sensitivity Filter is disabled (e.g., conflict, moral dilemmas, intense emotions, dark fiction)
- Visually explicit imagery or descriptions that serve no narrative or creative purpose
- Content that is primarily designed to depict or promote sexual gratification
- Any depiction, description, or promotion of sexual content involving minors — zero tolerance
- Non-consensual sexual content or sexual coercion
- Bestiality or zoophilia
- Extreme graphic violence or gore intended to shock rather than serve a narrative
- Content that promotes, glorifies, or instructs self-harm or suicide
- Content that promotes terrorism, hate speech, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin
- Doxxing or sharing private personal information without consent
- Fraud, scams, or deceptive practices
We enforce these standards through a combination of automated detection, community reporting, and human review.
Storychat uses a combination of automated systems and community reporting to maintain content standards.
Users may report any character, story, or message at any time using the in-app report function. Reports are handled confidentially.

First violation (non-prohibited) | Content flagged, hidden from general view, creator notified with option to appeal |
Repeated violations | Content removed, account warning issued |
Serious or prohibited content | Content permanently removed, account suspended or terminated, law enforcement notified if applicable |
If you believe your content does not violate these guidelines, you may submit an appeal:
- Go to the notification or Library card where the item is flagged.
- Select "Appeal," provide your reasoning, and submit the form.
- Our moderation team will review your case within 5 business days.
Appeal outcomes are based on the Content Standards above. Decisions may not be reversed unless new evidence is provided.
- You must be 13 or older to use Storychat (16 or older in the EEA/UK).
- You must be 18 or older to disable the Content Sensitivity Filter.
- Age verification is required to modify content sensitivity settings.
- Our AI models are designed with safety boundaries to prevent generation of prohibited content.
- Automated systems monitor for patterns that may indicate prohibited content.
- If our systems detect a potential self-harm situation, crisis resources will be displayed.
Storychat complies with all applicable laws, app store content policies, and payment processor requirements. Content standards may be adjusted to meet regulatory requirements in specific jurisdictions.
We maintain compliance with:
- Apple App Store Review Guidelines (including Guidelines 1.1.4, 1.2, and 4.7)
- Google Play Developer Program Policies
- Applicable U.S. federal and state laws
- Payment processor acceptable use policies
