Sometimes a single photo says what a thousand words can't. Let us introduce one of Storychat's most special features: Mood Snap.
As you chat, your character will sometimes send you an image that arrives all blurred out. It's a photo the character "snaps" and sends in the moment, matched to the flow of the conversation and how they're feeling right then. Tap once to clear the blur, and you can see with your own eyes exactly what expression and mood your character is in.
This whole article takes about 5 minutes to read. We'll cover exactly what Mood Snap is, how much it costs to open one (we'll spell the SP out in plain numbers so it's never confusing), and how to remake one your own way with Remix — all in one place.
Mood Snap is an image your character sends as the conversation unfolds, capturing their emotion and the mood of the scene.
Here's an easy way to picture it. You know how you'll be texting a friend and they suddenly fire off a selfie with "lol this is my face right now"? Mood Snap is exactly that. Emotion that used to live only in text suddenly appears right in front of you as a single picture.
By default, a Mood Snap arrives blurred. Once you clear the blur (a.k.a. unlock) and look at the image, you'll see clearly what your character looked like in that moment.
Why does this matter? Once you unlock a Mood Snap, it stays forever. You can view it again anytime, and you can collect them all on the character's profile. In other words, a photo you've opened once never disappears.
The flow is dead simple. Three steps and you're done.
A Mood Snap arrives blurred. When your character sends an image mid-conversation, it starts out covered.
Tap the image to unlock it. Clearing the blur costs 50 SP. (Depending on your plan, you get a set number of free unlocks each day. Check the table just below.)
Revisit it anytime. Once unlocked, you can view it again forever — both in the chat screen and on the character's profile.
Note: SP is a permanent currency that never expires. Once you've topped up, it doesn't disappear, so feel free to spend it on opening Mood Snaps without a second thought. [Related: Story Points & Costs]
Here's the bottom line first. Unlocking a Mood Snap costs 50 SP each. And depending on your plan, you get a set number of free unlocks per day. Once you've used up your free unlocks, 50 SP is deducted from there on.

Good to know: No plan gets unlimited free unlocks. The higher your plan, the more free unlocks you get each day (Silver 5 → Gold 20 → Platinum 80), and once you go past that count, every plan pays the same 50 SP. On the Free plan, you pay 50 SP from the very first unlock.
If you want to tweak a Mood Snap you love a little more, try the Remix feature. Type a short request on the image you received, and it'll create a new version that reflects your request.
Here's how you'd phrase it:
"Change the dress to red."
"Change the expression to a big, beaming smile."
"Put a bouquet of flowers in her hands."
Tip: The shorter and more specific your Remix request, the better the result. Rather than a vague ask like "make it prettier," point to exactly what you want changed — for example, "set the background to a beach at sunset."
Remix is also an add-on feature that runs on SP. That means it works within the same SP economy as unlocking a Mood Snap — you spend SP to create the new version. You can always preview the exact amount that will be deducted on the app screen before you send, so you can decide with the cost right in front of you.
If I run out of SP, does my chat stop?
No. Unlocking a Mood Snap and using Remix are just "extra" features that spend SP. Your basic conversation runs on the Default model, which is unlimited for everyone, so even if your SP hits zero, your chat will never be cut off. You only need SP to open a Mood Snap or to Remix.
Is a Mood Snap I opened for free different from one I opened with SP?
No. Only the way you open it differs — the result is identical. Either way, once unlocked it stays forever and can be viewed again on the profile.
When do my free daily unlocks reset?
They reset every day. If you've used up today's free unlocks, you can open more tomorrow with your refreshed allowance.
