Hi there. Anything to do with billing tends to make everyone a little tense — totally understandable. So this document lays out, as honestly and as clearly as we can, exactly what plans exist, what's refundable, and how Story Points (SP) work. This isn't marketing copy — it's a policy document. What we promise here is what you actually get.
What we'll cover:
The four tiers (Free / Silver / Gold / Platinum) and their prices
What each plan actually gives you (a limits-based table)
Billing, renewal, upgrade, and cancellation rules
When refunds apply and when they don't
What Story Points (SP) are and how you can use them
Our Price Change Notice and our grandfathering clause for existing subscribers
Storychat runs on four tiers: Free, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. The higher the tier, the faster your responses, the larger your default memory, the more free daily allowances you get, and the more generous your weekly premium allowance.
Plan | Monthly | Yearly (per month) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
Free | $0 | $0 | Core features, free |
Silver | $12/mo | $9/mo | — |
Gold | $25/mo | $18/mo | Best value |
Platinum | $100/mo | $90/mo | Top tier |
Why this matters: On every single plan, Default model chat is unlimited. Higher tiers don't exist to let you "chat more" — they give you a better, faster experience and a more generous premium allowance. (On Free, Default chat simply runs at standard speed.)
The table below is the heart of this document. Every limit and cost referenced elsewhere maps back to these numbers.
Feature | Free | Silver | Gold | Platinum |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Messages (Default model chat) | Unlimited (standard/slower speed) | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |
Weekly Premium Allowance (premium models) | Daily trial | Standard | 5x Standard | 20x Standard |
Response speed | Standard | Fast | Faster | Fastest |

Memory Dial: The memory sizes in the table above are the defaults. Anyone can turn the Memory Dial up to extend context all the way to 1M. (Just keep in mind that the deeper the context, the faster your SP/allowance gets used up.) [Related: Longer Memory]
Lorebook: Free and Silver can write up to 5 entries per character; Gold and Platinum up to 100. The Lorebook itself costs no SP on any plan. [Related: Lorebook]
Response Length: Setting any length — Short, Medium, Long, or Extended — is free for everyone. There's no flat fee for choosing a longer reply; a longer answer simply generates more text, so it may use a little more SP on that message (on premium models — on the free Default model it still costs nothing). [Related: Response Length]
Think of SP like a rechargeable transit card. Once you top up your balance, it doesn't disappear (it's a permanent currency that never expires), and it draws down a little at a time whenever you need it. You use SP after you've used up your plan's weekly premium allowance, and also for certain extras.
Where SP is used:
Used for | Cost |
|---|---|
Premium model usage beyond your weekly premium allowance | Deducted based on usage |
Image generation | 300 SP (after your free daily allowance runs out) |
Mood Snap unlock | 50 SP (after your free daily allowance runs out) |
Response length: Short / Medium / Long / Extended | Free to set — a longer reply may use a bit more SP |
Auto Summary (on Free / Silver) | Uses SP (included on Gold / Platinum) |
How SP is deducted:
SP is deducted once per message — meaning your send and the AI's reply count together as a single charge.
Heavier settings (deeper memory, longer replies, bigger characters) spend your allowance/SP faster.
The app shows you the estimated cost before you send, so you always know what a message will cost ahead of time.
You're never hard-locked: Because the Default model is unlimited for everyone, even if your weekly premium allowance or SP runs dry, you can always keep chatting on the free Default model. Your conversation never grinds to a halt.

All charges are billed immediately at the time of purchase.
Auto-renewing plans (30-day Silver or Gold) renew at the start of each billing cycle.
Upgrade: When you move up to a higher tier, the remaining value of your lower tier is automatically applied to the new plan on a pro-rata basis, and your benefits start right away.
Downgrade: This takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle — until then, you keep your current benefits in full.
You can cancel anytime. Canceling stops future renewals, but the current paid period is not refunded. You keep your premium benefits until the period you've already paid for runs out.
First, take a breath: A billing hiccup is nothing to panic over. If your situation matches the criteria below, we'll take care of it — and if it doesn't, we'll tell you exactly why.
Duplicate charges
Technical errors confirmed to be on Storychat's side
Unused subscription time (remaining period)
Partial or limited usage
Accidental purchases
In-app errors caused by user actions
Unused or expired promotional benefits
Silver plan extension credits
SP is a non-refundable, non-transferable virtual currency.
It's deducted the moment it's used and cannot be restored.
The only exception is when a promotion's terms specifically state otherwise.
Web payments: Governed by this policy.
In-app purchases (Apple / Google): Subject to each store's own billing and refund procedures — you may need to request refunds directly from Apple or Google.
Plan prices and benefits may change over time. When a price changes:
We'll give advance notice before it takes effect, and the change will be reflected in our official notices, including this document.
The new price applies to new charges and renewals on or after the announced effective date.
Even when a price changes, the benefits for any period you've already paid for stay exactly the same.
For those of you already on Silver or Gold, here's what we guarantee:
Existing Silver / Gold subscribers keep the price they're currently paying. You won't be automatically bumped up to the new price.
On top of that, you get extra loyalty perks.
Heads up — how to keep these benefits: This price lock and these loyalty perks apply only while your subscription stays active without interruption.
- If you cancel, your locked-in price and loyalty perks are gone.
- If you resubscribe later, you'll pay whatever the current price is at that time — there's no going back to the old price.
This clause is our way of thanking subscribers who've stuck with us for the long haul, and it protects you for as long as you keep your subscription going.
