Be anyone you want. Anytime, anywhere.
On Storychat, you don't have to be the "real you." Your name, your looks, your personality, the way you talk — you get to decide all of it. Create a Persona and the character remembers those details, treating you exactly the way you set things up. A shy art student, a vampire hunter, or just "someone different, only for today" — it's entirely up to you.
First time? No worries. It takes about 5 minutes, and the setup screen is nothing but a single text box. You don't have to write anything fancy.
A Persona is the profile card for the "you" inside a chat. Think of it as a note that tells the character who you are.
By default, a character knows nothing about you. Once you create a Persona, the character keeps referring to it throughout the conversation — calling you by name, describing your appearance, remembering your tastes, and reacting accordingly. Write it once and you can reuse it forever, with the same character or any other.
Why this matters: Without a Persona, the character treats you like a nameless stranger. Fill one in and immersion jumps way up — and that frustrating "but I clearly told you that, why don't you remember?" feeling fades fast.
It really is simple. Fill in one text box and you're done.
Open any chat
Click the Persona tab in the sidebar
Write or edit your Persona in the text box
Click Save Changes and start chatting right away
Tip: You can change your Persona anytime. Even if you switch to a different Persona mid-conversation, the character keeps remembering your background within that chat.
There's no right answer. Pick whatever format feels comfortable. You can literally copy any of the three below and just swap in your own name.

Tip: When you're stuck, start with the bullet format. Even a single line each for name, gender, appearance, personality, and tastes is plenty for the character to follow. Once you're comfortable, stretch it into a first-person version for more flavor.
There's no rule that says you can only use one Persona. You can keep several on hand and pick the right one for the character or the moment. One "you" for romance chats, another "you" for fantasy adventures, a more grounded "you" for serious heart-to-hearts.
Just switch to the Persona you want from the Persona tab, either before a chat starts or in the middle of one. How many you can create and how long each can be depends on your plan — check the table right below.
The number of Personas you can create, and the maximum length of each Persona, vary by plan.

Heads up: A longer Persona lets you paint a more detailed "you," but it also makes every message's context heavier. Pile on deep memory, long replies, and a big Persona all at once, and your Weekly Premium Allowance and SP get used up faster. Don't worry, though — the app shows you the estimated cost before you send. (See the SP notes below for details.)

Good news first. Personas themselves are free. Creating, editing, and switching between them costs no SP. Within the count and character limits in the table above, use them all you like.
And even better news — the conversation never stops. Storychat's Default model is unlimited on every plan. Even if you run out of your Weekly Premium Allowance or your SP, you can always keep chatting on the free Default model. Stuffing your Persona full of detail will never suddenly lock you out.
Why this matters: SP (Story Points) is permanent currency that never expires. It's spent when you go beyond your Weekly Premium Allowance to use premium models, or on extras like longer replies (+10 SP), image generation (300 SP), or unlocking a Mood Snap (50 SP). SP is deducted only once per message (your message and the AI's reply combined). The act of creating a Persona costs nothing.

Start with the essentials. One line each for name, gender, appearance, and personality, and the character gets it right away. You don't need to write a lot at first.
Focus on "who you are," not "what you want to do." A Persona is your character card. It's not a box for the plot — it's a box for who you are.
Split them by situation. Keep a romance Persona and an adventure Persona separate, and you won't have to re-explain yourself to the character every time.
Too long gets heavy. Just because you can write up to 20,000 characters doesn't mean you should fill it. Keep it to what you need, just the essentials — it's better for response quality too.
