Channel Updates

[Notice] Changes to Marketing Metrics and Goal Attribution Criteria (Sep 18, 2026)

Applies to: Channels using Channel Talk Marketing Campaigns

Until now, impressions and clicks have been measured using the same criteria across campaigns, regardless of the delivery method. When multiple campaigns overlapped, campaign performance was also attributed only to the last campaign.

To improve this, we’re updating our metrics and attribution criteria so you can more clearly understand campaign performance and how each campaign contributes to achieving your goals. After these changes take effect, campaigns created before September 11 will allow you to view both the new and previous versions of the statistics.

◼︎ Effective Date

September 18, 2026 (Fri) and onward

︎ Key Changes

❶ Metric Name Change

The “Views” metric in Marketing Statistics will be renamed to “Impressions.”

❷ How Impressions and Clicks Are Counted

  • Previously, when a Channel Talk message (Bubble) appeared on a website, it was not counted as an impression. It was only counted as a view when the customer entered the chat.

  • With this update, a Channel Talk message (Bubble) will be counted as an impression when it appears on the website, and a click when the customer takes a defined action, such as entering the chat. As a result, impression and click counts may differ from those calculated under the previous criteria.

Impressions

  • Before: When a Channel Talk message (Bubble) appeared on the website, it was not counted. It was only counted as a “View” when the customer clicked the message and entered the chat.

  • After: The message will be counted as an “Impression” as soon as the Channel Talk message (Bubble) appears on the website.

Clicks

  • Before: Only clicks on media such as images, links (buttons), and YouTube links within Channel Talk messages (Bubble or Full-screen) were counted.

  • After: Clicks on media, as well as clicks that lead customers into the chat from Channel Talk messages (Bubble or Full-screen), will be counted as clicks.

❸ Goal Attribution Window

Previously, the same goal attribution window—1, 3, 7, 15, or 30 days after a view or click—was applied regardless of whether the campaign was delivered through an online or offline channel.

Customers often respond immediately after viewing online messages (Channel Talk), while offline channels such as SMS and Kakao may take longer to generate a response. With this update, goal attribution windows will be separated by delivery method to account for these differences and provide a more accurate view of actual campaign responses.

Delivery method

Before

After

Offline channels (SMS, Kakao, etc.)

Select 1, 3, 7, 15, or 30 days after sending

Select 24, 48, or 72 hours after sending or clicking

Online channels (Channel Talk messages)

Select 1, 3, 7, 15, or 30 days after a view or click

30 minutes after an impression or click (default setting; cannot be changed)

Goal Attribution Priority

We’re introducing a new priority system by delivery method so that campaign performance is attributed to the campaign that customers responded to more actively.

When a customer receives multiple campaigns and subsequently makes a purchase or completes another conversion, the campaign credited with the result will be determined based on these priorities. If the priority is the same, the result will continue to be attributed to the most recent touchpoint, as before.

Before

After

Goal attribution criteria

Regardless of delivery method, only the last campaign the customer interacted with was counted toward goal achievement.

  • Only one campaign is counted based on delivery-method priority.

    1. Offline delivery click (SMS, Kakao, etc.)

    2. Offline delivery (SMS, Kakao, etc.) / Online delivery click (Channel Talk message)

    3. Online delivery impression (Channel Talk message)

Examples

  • If a customer clicks the link in SMS message A and then the link button in Kakao AlimTalk message B, only Kakao AlimTalk B, the last message clicked, is counted toward the goal. (For clicks from the same delivery method, the most recent touchpoint takes priority.)

  • If a customer is shown Channel Talk message A and then clicks a link in SMS message B, SMS message B is credited with the result. (An offline click takes priority over an online impression.)
